Spring Fishing is coming in hot!

In the surf, one could expect to catch some Spanish or Pompano, maybe the elusive Cobia. For Cobia, you can use Cobia jigs or live eel to catch them; they can be seen under floating surfaces (moving fish, rays, grassbeds) or swimming at the top of the surface in the waves. Pompano cannot resist some good sand fleas. We have the most success with sand fleas or ghost shrimp. Spanish Mackerel can be caught with a Clarkspoon with sporadic action and flashes.

In the Bay, Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and Sheepshead bites in the bayous are in full swing as well. We use live shrimp to pull bites from Red Fish, Speckled Trout and Black Drum and fish for them near drop-offs and near structures. For sheepshead, we use oysters and oyster debris to rile them up to achieve some bites and aim to catch these near bridge pylons and docks.

Further in the Gulf State Waters, Trigger Fish can be harvested from March 1 through May 31st with a bag limit of one fish per harvester and minimum size of 15″ at the fork length. You can also anticipate catching some White, Black and Vermillion Snapper.

As a professional charter boat business, we pride ourselves on always following the regulations of the FWC. You can find those regulations here.
